What is Technical Quality Improvement Programme?.

The Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme of Government of India (TEQIP) has been conceived in pursuance of the National Policy of Education (NPE)-1986 (as revised in 1992). The Programme aims to upscale and support ongoing efforts of Government of India (GOI) to improve quality of technical education and enhance existing capacities of the institutions to become dynamic, demand-driven, quality conscious, efficient and forward looking, responsive to rapid economic and technological developments occurring both at national and international levels.
The broad objectives of the Programme are to create an environment in which engineering institutions selected under the Programme can achieve their own set targets for excellence and sustain the same with autonomy and accountability, support development plans including synergistic networking and services to community and economy for achieving higher standards, and to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the technical education management system. The effort would provide a flexible platform to well performing institutions to acquire excellence in specialized areas and emerge as world-class institutions.

TEQIP and SDMCET

The SDMCET has been rendering services for the last 25 years in this region of Karnataka, imparting quality education in Engineering and Technology. A renowned "Citadel of Learning",the college run by the SDME Society, Ujire have been established a reputation for quality that is on par with best. The college, offers the best of equipments, infrastructure and staff, by highly qualified and dedicated faculties which in turn have resulted in superior performance by our students.
The Guiding spirit and driving force behind the success of the institution is Padmabushan Dr. D. VEERENDRA HEGGADE, President, SDME Society, Ujire and has created educational models that blend modernity with traditional values.
NBA is the statutory body of AICTE, which checks quality education and certifies the technical Institutions in India. National Board of Accreditation (NBA) of AICTE, New Delhi has accredited SDM college of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad. This is the FIRST technical institute in north Karnataka region to get the accreditation from NBA.
The Government of India also recognizes the incredible services of self financed, private Technical Education institutions. In view of the GOI is pleased to induct well performing, credible private institutions in its world bank assisted TEQIP Programme.
SDM College of Engineering and Technology, known for its quality of Technical Education and accreted by NBA ,is proud to be one of the beneficiaries of TEQIP Programme of GOI. GOI aims to upscale and support SDMCET to enhance existing capacities of the Institutions to become dynamic, demand- driven, quality conscious, efficient and forward looking techno-economic developments occurring at national and international Technical Education.
